A number of times the association Yad LaYeled HaMeyuchad – "Lend a Hand to the Special Child" – organised and conducted a Bar and Bat Mitzvah trip, which included a flight over Masada at Yam HaMelach (the Dead Sea), ascending in a cable car to the top of the Masada mountain and touring the historical site.
The trips were in collaboration with the IDF, led by Colonel Benzi Gruber joined by excelling soldiers. At the conclusion of these excursions certificates were awarded and the children got to douse the joining soldiers with water according to the IDF military tradition.
Each child was allowed to be accompanied by two family members.
The events were held in the early afternoons, with no cost to the participants and they included lunch.
