One of the special services provided by the Yad LaYeled Hameyuchad association is the "Aharon Scholarship" Program. The goal of the program is to assist parents of children with special needs by providing a student coaching their child once a week for two hours. This enables the parents to have the time for errands, for a rest and to spend quality time with other family members. At the same time the program achieves two additional goals:
1. Empowerment of the Special Child – The coaching student spends quality time with the child, such as going together to a nearby park or a mall. All students specialize in the field of special education, so they have the tools to use the two hours to promote the child.
2. Assistance to students from socio-economically weak families to reach higher education . The coaching instructors are students for Ba or MA at recognized institutions, who study fields related to special needs such as teachers for special education, social workers, paramedics etc..
In 2016 we provided 50 scholarships. For 2017 we hope to achieve 100 scholarships.
The program operates in the cities of Holon, Bat Yam, Rishon LeZion, Nes Ziona and Rehovot.
